About

Jack Simpson was born and raised in Owensboro KY. He was an only child and he loved playing sports. He excelled in tennis and basketball. He got his master’s degree from Murray State University in Physical Education. In 1963 at the age of 28 he started Davco Rest Home, his first of 5 personal care homes where he was the managing partner. After a short time, he bought out his partners and started building new facilities in Western Kentucky with 524 certified beds. In 1997 he opened Fern Terrace Suites Assisted Living, adding Suites 2 in 1999, and opening Fern Terra in 2007.

During the 57 years in operation he has cared for well over 10,000 residents and employed thousands of people along the way, pioneering the evolution of Personal Care and setting the bar for standards and amenities in homes throughout the state. Most of these residents are indigent elderly and severely mentally ill Kentuckians that have become an extension of Mr. Simpson’s family.

Our mission is to meet the needs of interested persons desiring our services. Our concept is: less people, more space and more services. We also want to provide a measure of security that will assure the contentment of knowing someone is near and that someone cares.
